On-Site School Programs at Morrell

  • ​Our School Programs are completely run by trained Volunteers and we can only run our Programs based on their availability.
  • Bookings may be requested by phone or email throughout the school year commencing in September for the upcoming year. Due to time constraints, all Programs are based on a first booked first served basis.
  • A confirmation will be sent shortly after booking your program.
  • A maximum of 30 students is recommended for quality interpreter-student interaction.

MOTHER NATURE’S RICHES
This program will focus on the concepts of Traditional Ecological Knowledge that contains certain plants that were once vitally important to the Coast Salish Peoples of British Columbia                                            
Spring
Gr. 3-7
Walk in - 2 hours $60

NATURE WALK
(Exploring the forest)    
This program provides a study of our Coastal Douglas-fir Zone and the relationship between plants, animals and non-living factors.
All Year
Gr. 3-12                                                         
Walk in – 2 hours $60

POND DIPPERS             
Students will observe plants/animals by dipping and collecting specimens from the pond. Life-cycles, adaptations and identification will be discussed.
Spring
Gr. 2-4                                                          
Drive in - 1.5 hours $55

SEEDS & SPORES
(Exploring change of season)        
An introduction to our Beaver Pond community where students will investigate the lives of Beavers, Ducks and Frogs. 
This program concludes with the very popular “Frog dress-up”!
Fall
Gr. K-2

EXPLORING NATURE              
A nature walk, focusing on our local plant and animal life, and encourage the children to use their senses to explore this environment.

EXPLORING NATURE ON THE
YEW LOOP     
Provides a gentle introduction to forest life, and lifestyle traits of a number of forest animals through the use of hand puppets.                               
A nature walk that will encourage the children to use their senses to explore the forest.
All Year
Pre-School                                                            
Walk in - 1 hour $45                  

FOREST DETECTIVES                     
Students will search for signs of biodiversity in Morrell’s forest community utilizing observation, investigation and deduction skills.                                        
All Year
 Gr. 1-3                                                            
Drive in - 1.5 hours-$55

FOREST ECOLOGY                           
This program provides a study of various relationships within the forest community, focusing on the basic characteristics of a forest ecosystem.

Gr. 4-12

INTRODUCTION TO LIFE IN
THE POND  
This is a fun introduction to learn about the common creatures in our pond environment and how they survive.                                          
Spring

MEET A TREE                         
Morrell Sanctuary is a typical second growth forest.
This program will show students how to identify 7 of the most common trees found in our Coastal Douglas biome.                                                           
All Year
Gr. 3-4
Walk in - 2 hours - $60
NOTE: Although some of Morrell’s programs are designed to observe animals in
their natural habitat there is no guarantee that forest and marsh animals will cooperate.
