Summer Day Camp Policies

Registration
  • Camp registration begins May 3rd, 2023.
  • There are two ways to register your child for summer camp. By e-mailing your registration form to (morrell@shawbiz.ca) or come in person.
  • Maximum registration will be 20 campers per day on a first come first serve basis.
  • Campers must be registered and paid a week before camp (we cannot accommodate drop- ins).
  • Both weekly and daily registrations are welcomed.
  • Cost: $40 per day (9:00 am-3:00 pm)
  • Payable by cash, cheque or interact.
  • A Covid screening form must be read and signed when children are dropped off or they will not be permitted to stay the day.
  • Please call to inquire about placing your child on a wait-list if a particular day of camp is full.
Drop Off & Pick-Up
Children may not arrive before the start of camp and must be picked up promptly. This allows leaders time to prepare for and clean up after each day of camp. Doors open at 9:00am and you are required to remain with your child(ren) until the leaders open the camp each day. Your child will not be released by anyone other than a parent/ guardian listed on the registration form unless you notify leaders ahead of time.
Children must be picked up by 3:00 PM. We understand  unexpected circumstances may occur, however if you are late picking up your child more than 2 days there will be a late fee of $5.00 per child per day.
Cancellations
The Morrell Nature Sanctuary will issue a full credit or refund if the cancellation request is received two days before camp. Any cancellations afterwards or ‘no shows’ will be charged for one full day of camp.
Camp Behavior and Discipline Guidelines
All campers must follow these basic rules:
  1. They may not hurt or endanger themselves, other campers, or any living thing.
  2. They must stay with the group.
  3. They must stay on the trails (unless directed otherwise)
  4. No foul language or threats (verbal or physical) allowed.
  5. They must follow instructions and directions of leaders at all times.
If needed, leaders will give a warning to the camper first, followed by a time out. If three time outs are given in one day, the parent or guardian will be contacted immediately and the camper will be asked to leave.
Severe Allergies or Medical Conditions
If your child has a severe allergy or medical condition that requires medication or special care, please inform us and complete the severe allergy information sheet. This form must be filled out prior to the first day of camp. We will keep parents informed of any out of the ordinary occurrences.

Additional Information

  • Children should be appropriately dressed for weather conditions (including proper foot wear).
  • Come equipped with insect repellant, sunscreen, a nut-free lunch, two snacks and a water bottle.
  • Children who fail to display proper behavior may be asked to withdraw from camp.
