The sticky, smelly and slimy wonders of the forest are waiting for you to discover them! The world is full of creatures that many people think are gross and scary. Learn all about insects, reptiles and amphibians and get ready to go crazy for creatures that aren’t so scary after all.
Maps, clues and scavenger hunts will help you to solve the mysteries of the forest. Grab your detective kit and bring your curiosity this week because we are going to dig deep to uncover many of the forest mysteries.
Go ahead and get wet this week while exploring Morrell’s stream, pond and lake. Catch some whirligigs and mud puppies if you are quick enough, spy ducks and frogs and discover just how wacky and wonderful water can be.
Explore wonderful and wacky weather patterns in a week full of experiments, games and crafts.
How strong are your senses? We’ll test your nose, eyes and ears and see how they compare to amazing animals. Did you know that snakes don’t smell through their noses or that an owl can hear through 18 inches of snow? Learn more cool facts about how your senses compare to the animals of our forest.
Bugs are hopping in the Nature Sanctuary in the summer and it is the perfect place to learn all about them. Spend a whole week learning about and scouring the forest floor and pond for ladybugs, spiders, millipedes, water striders and more. Kids will explore the world of bugs as the sing about them, move like them, paint them and even hold them!
Kid vs. Wild
Can you jump as far as a tree frog? Can you run faster than a squirrel? Put your skills to the test to see how you compare to some incredibly talented and well-adapted animals. We will also try our hand at some survival basics like shelter building, responding the wild animals and local foraging as we put the WILD back in wilderness.
Do you want to learn how to make a cloud in a jar
or watch a volcano erupt? Join us for a week filled with experiments and discoveries in the forest. We will take a closer look at insects, dirt, and plants with our magnifying glasses and microscopes. This is the perfect week for young scientists!
The final week of camp will leave you wishing summer would never end. Taking the lead from what campers like best and would like to do, we will be cramming in all the highlights of the past nine weeks for a most awesome conclusion to summer camp at Morrell Nature Sanctuary.
The Morrell Nature Sanctuary will issue a full credit or refund if the cancellation request is received by 3:30 pm the day before camp. Any cancellations after 3:30 pm or ‘no shows’ will be charged for one full day of camp.
Drop Off & Pick-Up
Please be prompt in dropping off and picking up your summer camper(s). Children may not arrive before the start of camp and must be picked up promptly. This allows leaders time to prepare for and clean up after each day of camp. Doors open at 9:00am and you are required to remain with your child(ren) until the leaders open the camp each day. Your child will not be released by anyone other than a parent/ guardian listed on the registration form unless you notify leaders ahead of time.

Special Conditions and Emergencies
If your child has a severe allergy or medical condition that requires medication or special care, please inform us so that we can provide you with our severe allergy information sheet. This form must be completely filled out prior to the first day of camp. We will keep parents informed of any out of the ordinary occurrences.
